Library Activities

The W. G. Rhea Public Library strives to be the center of the community. Every person in Henry County has ownership in their Library and they love to share the Library with visitors. The Library averages about 300 patrons per day in the space of 11,814 square feet. The building is handicapped accessible with wheel chair computer access. We are located at 400 West Washington Street which is right across from Paris City Hall.

The Library offers a wide collection of fiction books, non fiction books, a large screen television, books on tape, books on CD, machines for the visually impaired, DVDs, VHS tapes and Inter Library Loan services. The list goes on. One of the most important parts of the Library is the people. The Library is a place to meet and talk over events, exchange information and ideas.

The W.O. Inman room houses the best Genealogy resources in the area. Volunteers man this department with their bright minds and giving hearts. You can e-mail them or visit their website . The best way to use this great facility is in person. The volunteers work very closely with the Paris Henry County Archives which is located at the Central School building.

The Library collections are varied and include 46,776 books, 2037 DVDs, 2615 microfilms in Genealogy and 727 books on CD / music CDs.

Our Young Adult room is furnished with comfortable furniture and stocked with Young adult materials. Three computers are also available in this room just for teen use. A large TV is in the room for video games and movie viewing. It is the teen space just for teens!

Use of the library is free to all Henry County residents and landowners. Residents in adjacent counties may also use the library after proper registration. All persons desiring to borrow materials must have a current, valid library card and be in good standing.

The computer center has 12 desktop and 12 laptop computers all with Internet access. Computer time is linited to 40 minutes per session and can be extended for job searches and school work. The laptops are currently reserved for computer classes. A current, valid library card is required to use the Internet.

Please come in, relax, and enjoy the many things W. G. Rhea Public Library has to offer.
